If perception is reality, we must be careful of what we allow into our minds. Additionally, we have to consider the motivation of those who present anything before us for consumption.

Multimedia news outlets require sponsors, usually in the form of advertising. Many people regard a great deal of good/positive news as uneventful. Consequently, they may cease to watch. Poor ratings or viewership equates to less money.

Things which are exceptional, odd, or heinous draw the most attention. If not justifiable, it is understandable;

Villagers a thousand years ago would have rather been made aware of a predatory animal’s location than that of the sweetest berries. Survival remains high on our list of “things to do.” That does not mean we don’t want to know about things pleasurable and/or nurturing.

We were made by Love to love. When we express love it feels good; it invigorates us. It gives us strength. Anger can provide an adrenaline rush. However, similar to a caffeine or sugar rush there is a noticeable – sometimes very pronounced – crash! Love is consistent and balanced. Every molecule that constitutes our existence knows that we cannot survive immersed in hate.

Our country must change. Our country is made up of individuals. Change inspires change.

Change that is real and lasting requires time and endurance. That stated, change begins with a moment of declaration. As children of God we can be refilled by love (the presence of the Lord) at any time.

In Judges 7:17-24 we find Gideon and his 300 men bringing light to darkness and declaring the name of love (God). Their stance caused the enemy to flee and damage themselves. Three hundred men set an innumerable army to flight. As those with Gideon pursued, they invited others to join them. The enemy was defeated.

Jehovah’s power to perform the miraculous did not end with Gideon. That power cannot end. We must choose to embrace and stand in His love.

We have to declare that in spite of the injustice, we will seek justice. In spite of the lies, we will speak truth. In spite of the darkness, we will shine light. In spite of evil deeds, we will perform gestures of kindness. In spite of hate, we will love.

In spite of appearances, Love wins!
