Life as a Maturing Christian man

The following is a guest post from a writer who wishes to remain anonymous at this time. Enjoy! ~MfG

Sometimes, we Christians say things. And they forget that they don’t just represent themselves; that they are part of a larger body; that the world is watching. Over the years, in work and family I have had struggles, just like all Christian men do. Some are easier to overcome than the others. Nonetheless in all situations, God was there for me providing for my every need. Over the hills and the valleys, if you let Him, he will guide you in the right direction and make your path straight. He is the healer, the lover of our souls.

I continually go back to the times where I was most vulnerable and afraid, and I see the King watching over me at all times. He is the real Savior that I depend upon and urge men with life’s struggles to cling to. There is hope for us, both men and women to be overcomers in Christ. That being said, there is something I want to shout out loud for the world to hear:

God is my provider.

He has been a faithful provider, and I have never been in want. Even in the moments when the situations went bad, and I was without a job for two months. He was still faithful to provide. His provision also goes beyond my financial needs, and I am blessed with family and family away from family.

If you are reading this, I pray that the same Provider whom I have come to know as the One who fights for me and who loves me so jealously will also reveal Himself to you in the same way and even more so! May all your needs, financial and otherwise, be met by the God, who can provide exceedingly and more abundantly than you could ever imagine.

As Christians, we rally behind Jesus not because of His good policies and firm principles, though He is indeed good and right; we rally behind Jesus not because of his ability to reach the mass, though the Gospel answers the needs of the masses.

No. We can only rally behind Jesus when we have a deep love for the God-man; we can only rally behind Jesus when our hearts burn with an aching desire that will not settle for anything less than the pleasure and goodwill of the King.

We rally to the King because we know that our hearts have encountered a Man, who is worthy of all our adoration, worthy all our devotion and all our loyalty.

Pursue truth in every way, yes, but remember that Truth has revealed Himself to us as the Son of Man. And the mind on its own is incapable of declaring unconditional allegiance to the Son of Man. Indeed, it will take more than our minds.

Christianity is more than a religion of the book. It is a religion of the Man. And the Man is called Jesus.

To the King. To the King.

The work of God in our lives is not a work of assimilation, but a work of transformation. What do you think? What are your thoughts on the work of God in your life?
